Queens Park Rangers defender Damion Stewart bagged two awards in the Player of the Year awards last night.
The awards evening held last night (Saturday) saw the big Jamaican pick up both Supporters Player of the Year and the Ray Jones Players` Player of the Year, narrowly fending off Czech stopper Radek Cerny and Latvian Kaspars Gorkss in the former.
The Daphne Biggs Supporters` Young Player of the Season was given to versatile defender Matthew Connolly. The former Arsenal man has been exemplary in all areas of defence, belying his inferior years.
The Kiyan Prince Goal of the Season award went to Martin Rowlands for his sensational strike against Wolverhampton Wanderers live on Sky. The midfielder has since been sidelined with a knee injury picked up against Derby County.
The awards were given as follows:
Supporters’ Player of the Year – Damion Stewart
Daphne Biggs Supporters’ Young Player of the Year – Matthew Connolly
Ray Jones Players’ Player of the Year – Damion Stewart
Kiyan Prince Goal of the Season – Martin Rowlands
Community Commitment Award – Gareth Ainsworth
