Jamaican international Damion Stewart has signed a three year contract with Rangers, subject to obtaining an extension to his work permit.

Nicknamed ‘Stew Peas’, the 25-year old defender has spent the last season on loan at Bradford City from Caribbean Club champions Harbour View.

He will become caretaker boss Gary Waddock’s first signing when the summer transfer window officially opens at the start of June.

The centre-half has played over 30 games for his country and is set to line up in the Reggae Boyz’ team to face England in an up and coming international friendly at Old Trafford on June 3rd.

Standing at 6ft 2 he is a no-nonsense style defender with speed and strength. Speaking to the official QPR website, Stewart said:

‘I’m delighted to have joined QPR.

‘I enjoyed my time at Bradford but when the chance came up to play in the Championship for a big club like QPR it was an easy decision to make.

‘I grew up watching QPR in the Premiership and hopefully we can return to the top flight in the future.’

Gary Waddock was pleased with his first signing.

‘I’m very excited about him. He’s an international footballer. He’s big, strong and quick and is exactly what we’re looking for.

‘We’re confident he’ll complement the other defenders we’ve already got in our squad.’

Whilst Chairman Gianni Paladini was also delighted to have the defender on board.

‘We’re delighted to sign Damion.

‘He’s a great prospect and hopefully the first of many new additions this summer.

‘We’re building a side to take us forward over the next three years and Damion will be an integral part of that.’

VITAL QPR will keep you up to date with the latest going’s on at Loftus Road throughout the summer months.
