Maidenhead United will be the hosts of a charity match, in aid of the Geoff Thomas Foundation.

The match arranged by Mark Roach at Maidenhead United, will be a showcase for a plethora of stars that have graced the field of play in times gone by.

The Legends XI will include Chelsea trio Micky Hazard, David Lee, and subject to availability goalscoring menace, Kerry Dixon. Ex-Reading players Michael Gilkes, Mick Gooding, Barry Hunter, Steve Wood and Keith Scott are all due to take part. Strikers formerly of Blackburn and West Ham; Simon Garner and Mike Small will also be on display.

Ex-Premier League players Bontcho Guentchev and Darryl Powell like Dixon will also take part subject to availability.

Maidenhead themselves will be represented in the fixture by manager Johnson Hippolyte set to play apart along with ex-players Tim Cook, Steve Croxford and Garry Attrell amongst others.

QPR will also be represented as once Rangers midfielder Martin Allen will be part of the Legends XI, the Ex-Brentford and Leicester City manager currently resides in Maidenhead.

The man himself, Geoff Thomas, is rated at 90% to make the occasion after completing his first marathon, The London Marathon in 4 hours 28 minutes last Sunday.

Perhaps the biggest coup for cause was former Arsenal manager Terry Neill agreeing to manage the Legends XI. Neill spoke to the Geoff Thomas Foundation:

“I am looking forward to being a guest manager for this worthwhile cause,’

‘It is great to see that so many well known ex players have agreed to be involved.”

Neill continued:

“One of the common factors with all of us is that football has been good to us and we are happy to give something back to support the Geoff Thomas Foundation.”

“Apart from anything else, the ex pros still enjoy playing and I am sure it will be great entertainment for the fans.”

The match will be played at York Road on Sunday 20th April and is priced £5 for adults, £2 concessions, and £1 for under 16s.

A limited edition souvenir programme is available featuring an exclusive interview with Geoff Thomas, and is priced at £2.

At< www.geoffthomasfoundation.com/ the charity is described as following:

Having completed 18 months of high-profile fund-raising for leukaemia charities, Geoff has taken the decision to set-up his own Foundation, the Geoff Thomas Foundation committed to the development and delivery of new treatments for patients with cancer and leukaemia across the country.
