Preston North End defender Sean St Ledger has spoken highly of R’s boss Neil Warnock in the build up to this weekend’s clash.

St Ledger has become a stalwart under new boss Darren Ferguson and has proven an imposing figure for both club and country in recent seasons.

In the build up to this weekend’s clash the defender has spoken highly of QPR manager Neil Warnock believing that he is an outspoken character – which in his opinion is a good thing.

‘I like him,’ St Ledger has told pnefc.net.

‘I think he is a great character and you need people like that in football because you don’t see too many of them about, they are a dying breed. He’s outspoken and I like it that he says what he thinks.

‘He’s a great character but I am sure he is a great motivator in the changing room, but they won’t need too much motivation as they are below us in the table and they have the threat of relegation just as much as we do.

It’s an important game and if we can get the three points then it will take us further away from the relegation zone.’

The Irish international said that while you don’t know what to expect from Queens Park Rangers, they can be a formidable side on their day.

‘They are a good side but they are just like Jekyll and Hyde, you don’t really know what you are going to get from them, they have got a lot of good players in their squad so we expect a tough game from them.

‘We know that their manager, Neil Warnock, will be straight into them.’

St Ledger looks set to continue alongside Liam Chilvers unless Youl Mauwene can make a swift return from a groin injury, as they look to reproduce the calibre of performance that saw them secure a playoff place last season.

The Birmingham-born defender has made 146 apperances for the Lilywhites as he looks to secure a clean sheet at Deepdale this weekend.
