Former Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate is being reported as a possible target for QPR despite Jim Magilton still being the manager.

The ex-Aston Villa and Crystal Palace defender was relieved of his duties at the Riverside Stadium following disappointing crowd levels at the ground.

Magilton is currently suspended following an alleged altercation with Ákos Buzsáky in the dressing-room with Marc Bircham and Steve Gallen taking temporary charge of the R’s.

The Telegraph are saying that Southgate is a front-runner for the post, believing that Magilton will be sacked once the investigation is completed.

Darren Ferguson is also a name that’s been mentioned, but according to the news outlet is believed to be holding out for the job at Bolton Wanderers.

During his three-year stint at Middlesbrough, Southgate won only 44 games of his 150, giving him a win percentage of 29.3%.
