Speaking to SwanseaCity.net he stated that he was happy to be at a club with stability and foundations where the hierarchy and everyone involved with the club supporting the manager.

On his reasons for joining the club he said: “First of all because it`s a club with big foundations, a club with a lot of stability, they give a lot of support to the manager to make the right things and it`s what I believe in the chairman in the club the people who work in the club to help me, to support me to get always the success for the club.

“I agree from the beginning that the philosophy is the same I have, the ideas we have are very clear to achieve our success.

“As a player I played it like that as a coach always working in that way. I have my convictions of course but the style we got to keep it playing a great quality of football to enjoy all the fans coming here to support us and also the fans who love football.”

Paulo was keen to stress the importance of will and determination as he outlined his goals for the future alongside chairman Huw Jenkins.

I know about the players of course,” he said.

“I know the quality they have. I need to understand better if they have the same will and quality for this season and next. Because only with quality and especially will to get success it`s the right way to achieve that.

“I never care about the status of the player I care about the team and what he wants to bring for the club and especially I want two things, quality and will.

“I don`t have a doubt that I made a great job in the Championship, I know well this league, this competition.

“I believe a lot in myself and in my knowledge, I believe I can continue to make a great work for the club to help the club remain in the same level and step by step to looking for something else.”

Sousa`s first task will be to take on former England manager Steve McLaren, as he brings his FC Twente side to the Liberty Stadium.

His first chance to face Queens Park Rangers comes on Saturday October 3 as QPR travel to the Liberty Stadium, with the reverse fixture on March 20.
