Sousa Is Positive After Loss To Norwich

When asked if this loss puts paid to any chances QPR may have had of the play-offs, a very positive thinking Paulo Sousa admitted that, until it was mathematically impossible for us to reach the play-offs, he was still looking towards a top 6 finish, despite tonight`s disappointment.

Paulo Sousa is clearly a man who has great faith in his players. Throughout the whole, brief press conference, he kept reiterating how very proud of his players he was tonight. He explained that when we lost against Ipswich we had played badly; but tonight we created chances and played well even though we didn`t score. He felt that we didn`t get what we deserved particularly as Norwich created one chance and scored from that chance.

Sousa mentioned the difficult weather conditions but insisted that his players tried throughout the match to combat those conditions, and played very good football and, to quote our First Team Coach: “we made great things today”.

When asked about newcomer Jordi Lopez, Paulo Sousa couldn`t speak higher of a man who he believes will greatly improve us in the midfield. And when asked what Radek Cerny had to say about the goal (Cerny let ball go through his hands for their goal), the manager was quick not to blame him. He repeated his mantra from after the Ipswich game – that we lose as a team and we win as a team. He then reiterated that he was nonetheless very proud of his players for playing so well even though they lost.

“When we start to score we will win the games, I`ve no doubt about that,” claimed Paulo Sousa. “We are working very hard on finishing not only the strikers but the midfielders, full backs, everyone – for what we create we are not scoring enough,” he added.

And to conclude, the gaffer believes that the players` heads should be held high tonight because he believes we played good football and “I`m very happy and very proud.”

I was not able to go tonight (in this weather, I am not too disappointed!) But I am intrigued to hear the thoughts of my fellow Rs` fans who made the wet and windy trip to Loftus Road. What I would like to know, Rs` fans, is this – is Sousa right or is he just wearing rose-coloured glasses?
