Loan striker Jay Simpson could be courting closer attention from Arsene Wenger following an injury to key forward Robin van Persie.
The Dutchman was injured on international duty against Italy and despite his pioneering placenta-based remedies, he will be out for a considerable period of time.
The form of Jay Simpson will not have gone unnoticed by Wenger and Arsenal supporters in general, as he bagged his eighth goal against Coventry City on Saturday.
Simpson’s sparkling form as a lone front-man will have undoubtedly raised a few eyebrows at the Emirates, and change their tact from using Jay as a wide-man.
Simpson said: ‘This is helping my development and I want to play at the top level. At the moment Arsenal have a lot of injuries so if I was back there, who knows.
‘When I play I’m always confident I’ll score – even if it was in the Premier League.’
The striker is on a long-term loan at Rangers but Arsenal reportedly do have an option of a call-back for the in-form forward.
