The Sunday Mirror has quoted Jim Magilton as calling Adel Taarabt a ‘silly boy’ for gesticulating towards fans near the end of our 5-2 victory against Barnsley.
Magilton told the paper that he was angry with Taarabt’s attitude:
‘He`s a wonderful footballer and at times he will infuriate everyone, like he infuriates me,’ our manager admitted.
‘He`s very much a prized asset of ours,’ Magilton added. ‘If he`s reacted he`s been a little bit silly but that`s what you get with talented footballers.
And tellingly he continued:
‘They can be a bit headstrong at times. Will I put an arm around him? No, I`ll probably throttle him for not passing!’
That suggests that (a) Taarabt will be going nowhere and (b) Magilton will handle his attitude to the fans – as well, I’m sure, as his attitude towards passing!
