Teddy Sheringham wants Roy Hodgson to take Bobby Zamora to Euro 2012

The former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur front-man believes that Zamora would be a useful addition to England’s Euro 2012 squad.

He told the Daily Mail that despite QPR’s rocky end to the season, Zamora could be a shrewd choice for the new England boss.

He said: ‘If you’re picking strikers you’ve got to have people who can hold the ball up in the opposition half and for me the best player that can do that is Bobby Zamora.

‘I know he has not had the best end of the seasons but he does an Emile Heskey-type job for England – and he can score goals as well.

‘He is good in the air and he is very capable playing in an England team and would be good alongside Wayne Rooney in the latter stages. Roy Hodgson would know how to get the best out of him too.’

High praise indeed from the forward that netted 11 times in 50 appearances for the three lions.

Zamora has netted twice for QPR since his January move from neighbours Fulham, scoring in home fixtures against Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers while contributing immesely to Rangers’ survival effort.
