PREVIEW

Kevin Blackwell’s Blades are looking to finally achieve their ambition of promotion, underachieving last time out following a playoff final appearance the year before.

A finish outside the playoffs didn’t quite meet pre-season expectations given that a multitude of money was spent preparing the squad.

Blackwell himself admits that he is a few players short of his ideal squad but the Blades are set to be strong given their combative style of play and depth of squad.

Prediction: 8

The Blades will once again undoubtedly be up near the top six, but with the current manager deploying somewhat negative tactics, it’s difficult to see them finishing in a playoff berth.

Many times last season Sheffield United appeared a cut above, but were kept on a restraint by some negative tactics and it cost them several games last time out.

Sheffield United have purchased beneath their usual calbire of signing with Ertl and Boganovic previously not playoff chasers by trade, and it remains to be seen whether they can claim a higher place than predicted.
