We have heard from Amit Bhatia, we have heard from Neil Warnock – and now we hear from new Chairman of QPR Holdings Ltd, Ishan Saksena. Saksena was present at yesterday`s press conference to introduce Warnock as the new QPR manager. He spoke eloquently and passionately at the press conference (which we reported in Saksena Craves Stability ). And afterwards, Saksena gave an exclusive interview to QPR Player.

Saksena admitted that it was absolutely great being QPR`s Chairman now: “It`s a position that I hold with a lot of respect. I know there`s a lot of trust being bestowed upon me by the Board, by the fans, everyone. And I will do whatever it takes to make this a success.”

Saksena seems to have become a very ardent QPR fan in a very short space of time. Admitting to not enjoying watching our games because of nerves, he also admitted that all he wants is to see us win and that he expends that pent up emotion when we score with some rather exuberant celebrations! “I love QPR! I love the passion that`s among all the fans. I`m proud to be one of the QPR fans and I will show that in every single game.”

Anyone able to watch the Press Conference yesterday would have noticed just how happy – positively beaming – Saksena was as he proudly introduced Neil Warnock to the waiting press. Saksena told QPR Player: “He is a fantastic manager – we all know that.

“He is vastly experienced. He has a phenomenal track record. The fans will love him and he will love the fans in return. I think that, as a complete package, he is the best guy we could have got and I am absolutely delighted that he is here. I`m excited and I want all the QPR fans to know that they should all be excited!”

Saksena, doing a much better “spin job” than most of the spin that has come out of Loftus Road in the past couple of years, exhorted the fans to attend all the remaining home fixtures (and the away games too, if I`m honest!), particularly as he wants there to now be a united effort – fans and Club together. I guess that`s better than being told we don`t count because we only pay £20 for a ticket!

Returning to the arrival of Warnock, Saksena noted that “the most important character trait that he (Warnock) has is his will to win. To do the right thing, to do it with passion and love and vision for the game. I think that is something that we all admire.”

Inevitably, talk turned to strengthening the squad in the summer – after we`ve secured our Championship status, of course! Saksena confirmed that “Neil and I will work closely on doing what`s the best for the fans and, of course, what`s best for the Club. We will obviously make financially prudent decisions because stability is the most important thing. We will cautiously keep moving forward towards our goal and take good decisions in doing that.

“I`m happy to know that Neil is the sort of manager who always bring out the best in his players, even more than they probably expect from themselves. So that, as a combination with the capacity we have to spend, I think would be a very exciting prospect.”

It is very interesting to note how carefully both Bhatia and, now, Saksena are about including us fans whenever they talk about QPR. It is quite clear, as demonstrated by their frankness in their respective, recent interviews, that they are paying more than lip service to the lack of communication between Club and fans in the past couple of years.

What with the good news that the newly constituted Board went out and spent money to bring Warnock to the Club, together with this more “open” communication policy, I feel far more confident these days that the Club can now start to move forward in the right way. And it would rather nice to start with another much-needed 3 points tomorrow against West Brom!
