Queens Park Rangers have today announced the signing of striker Dudley Junior (DJ) Campbell from Blackpool.

29 year-old Campbell has put pen to paper on a two year deal at Loftus Road, after QPR paid what is believed to be £1.2 million for the strikers` services. After a successful 2010/2011 campaign for Blackpool in the Premier League, where the former Yeading, Birmingham and Leicester striker netted 13 league goals, DJ joins QPR back in England`s top flight hoping to make a further impression on the Premier League.

Campbell – who has been courted by Warnock for some time – becomes the gaffer`s fourth summer signing after the recent captures of Jay Bothroyd, Kieron Dyer and Danny Gabbidon. DJ told qpr.co.uk ‘It`s a club I supported as a kid. I grew up around here and QPR have played a massive part of my life.`

‘This was my first club, from 6-16, so to finally be back here at the age of 29 is really special.`

DJ added ‘It`s a massive club and it means a lot to me to be back here where it all began. There were other clubs in the Premier League that showed an interest but when I heard QPR were in for me it was an offer I couldn`t refuse – this is my club.`

R’s gaffer Neil Warnock was delighted with his recent capture and told qpr.co.uk ‘He is someone I have admired for a while now and he had a fabulous season in the Premier League with Blackpool last year.`

‘He is a QPR fan and you can tell he has a great desire to do well for the club he supports. That shone through when I met up with him – he can`t wait to play for us. He also gives us that extra element of pace which we need and I am sure he will prove to be a big hit with the fans at Loftus Road this season.`

QPR’s squad for the 2011/2012 Premier League season is beginning to take shape nicely, and with Warnock already declaring his interest in bringing in further signings, the R’s will certainly be ready for the challenge ahead.
