Jake Cole picked up a groin injury in Oxford United`s friendly triumph over Maidenhead.

Oxford United picked up another friendly victory but this time instead of Jake Cole contributing to the success he was struck down in 18 minutes with a ‘worrying` groin injury.

‘Jake has got a soft tissue injury of his groin, and that is a big worry,’ Patterson told the Oxford Mail

‘With Billy (Turley) out, I wasn’t prepared to take any chances, so he came off straight away.”

‘It was a good chance to look at Ben, but obviously we need Jake fit.”

The U`s blitzed their opposition from Blue Square South with a first half double from ex-Bristol Rovers forward Lewis Haldane, and Jamie Guy continued his stunning pre-season form by netting another goal this time from the penalty spot.

The Magpies who has ex-Rangers forward Richard Pacquette at their disposal were blown away and their only response could come in the second period with Ryan Hazell netting in injury time to make the score 3-1.

Undoubtedly however the soft tissue injury to Jake Cole will be great cause for concern, not only for Rangers but for Oxford, who will be scratching around for goalkeepers as the season draws ever closer.
