Queens Park Rangers paid the price for dropping points yesterday by dropping a couple of spots in the Championship.

Lancashire duo Preston North End and Blackpool picked up a point-a-piece against Crystal Palace and Doncaster Rovers respectively as Middlesbrough also drop out of the top-six.

Preston were held at home by Crystal Palace, 1-1 – who are Rangers’ opponents in a rearranged fixture on Tuesday night, while Blackpool played their part in a six goal thriller, 3-3 – away at Doncaster.

Middlesbrough were beaten at home and missed a penalty in Gordon Strachan’s first game in charge. Jamie Mackie stole the show for Argyle which will ease the pressure on boss Paul Sturrock.
