Royce leaves Loftus Road

The 35 year old goalkeeper lost his regular place in the QPR side after the 5-0 defeat at Southend when he had a very bad night at the office.

Lee Camp took over from him and has impressed but there was a brief recall for Royce for the Derby away game where QPR drew 1-1. He was stright back out of the side when Camp returned the week after and hasn’t even made the bench in recent games.

Royce has expressed his displeasure at his current situation in recent press reports – claiming he was too ill to play at Southend and that John Gregory has hardly spoken two words to him since.

With his contract up at the end of the season we’ve almost certainly seen the last of Simon in a QPR shirt and if that’s the case we wish him well.

As an emergency loan QPR do have 24 hour call back on him which may come in handy next week. If Derby goalkeeper Stephen Bywater cops a ban, rather than the more likely fine, for his misconduct at Ipswich then Camp will head back to Derby and Royce to Loftus Road.
