Rangers stopper Simon Royce is to return to action this afternoon as Rangers reserves entertain Crawley Town reserves at Loftus Road.

Royce has missed the last five Rangers fixtures after injuring his hip and seen short term goalkeeper Paul Jones shine for club and country before him.

Jones has been in great form for Wales as well as Rangers and Royce has warned him, he wants his place back on Saturday.

‘I now have to fight to get my place back,’ Royce said.

‘I would like to think that after playing 33 games this year I’ve done enough to give Gary a massive headache and win back my place.

‘But Paul Jones has done very well, so it won’t be easy.’

Rangers travel back up to South Yorkshire for the second time in three weeks to face the blue side of Sheffield- Wednesday. The setting for the famous promotion winning campaign from Division 2 a couple of years ago.
