Rowlands on Loan?

Queens Park Rangers longest serving player, Martin Rowlands may well be loaned to another Championship club is reports are to be believed.

The midfielder who joined from Brentford in the summer of 2003 has suffered all the highs and lows that come with being a modern day QPR player.

With the elation of promotion and being handed the captaincy to the despair of two long-term knee injuries in short success, it would be fair to say that his seven years at Rangers have been eventful.

Management have come and left but eventually the combative midfielder has worked his way into their plans and even twice as a Republic of Ireland international.

This latest development comes at club level with boss Neil Warnock admitting difficulty in assuring Rowlands a place in the side among a plethora of talented but ultimately fitter midfielders.

Today Warnock confirmed that the club are in talks with a number of clubs including his former club and a side which Rowlands has previously turned down, Crystal Palace.

Rowlands’ reluctance to leave for Selhurst Park was made clear when he reportedly rejected a move to South London, favouring instead to fight for his place in W12.

Warnock explains to the Ealing Gazette:

‘At the moment, he’s not getting in the side. He needs first team games and I can’t see him getting in my team. He says he doesn’t get anything out of friendlies.

‘But that’s down to Martin really, because I’m not forcing anybody to go.’

With the boss not seeming to picture Rowlands in the first-team set-up, it may well be the beginning of the end for the midfielder who has served Rangers for the longest.
