Rowan Vine is on the road to recovery after the latest set of scans gave him the all clear to enter into light training.

Following his two month assessment in the Princess Grace Hospital in London, Vine came out with flying colours, and can now participate in light training.

Head Physio Paul Hunter spoke to QPR.co.uk:

‘The results showed that both fractures are healing really well, so much so that they’ve given him the go ahead to resume light running,’

‘He’ll be in for daily double sessions on the trampette and combine that with the continued strength work he’s been doing on his leg.’

He continued:

‘Rowan has really kicked on in the last couple of weeks and we’re delighted with the progress he is making.”

‘His attitude has been first class and we couldn’t have wished for anything more at this stage of his recovery.’

Rowan Vine`s freak injury, as it is being billed, occurred back in April, in a collision with released Rangers stopper Matthew Pickens.

A Vital QPR observer here describes the incident as perhaps not as freak as its cracked up to be:

Vine was rather ‘over-excited’ all morning – he’d slipped a couple of times running onto balls as it was! Out comes Pickens for a supposed-friendly after a very interesting technical training session where LDC had the central midfielders getting the ball out to the wing, and the wingers then had to get the ball into the strikers ahead of Camp – and try to beat Camp. That was fascinating! Back to Vine!

He got the ball on the wing and knocked it towards the goal – for some reason, Pickens charged out of the area towards Vine. Vine saw red mist, I guess, coz he continued to bear down on the ball – with Pickens coming in the opposite direction – both going at quite a speed. Pickens should’ve stopped – backed off; but didn’t. He went sliding in – Vine went sliding in the opposite direction. Pickens caught Vine’s foot – we all heard the crack. Vine stayed on the floor in obvious serious trouble. I think the vibration from the foot up the leg caused the double fracture – but I’m no expert!! The pros dealt with the situation incredibly quickly – but there really was no need for the accident at all – ‘unfortunate’ is not the word I’d use. Unnecessary – stupid – lack of common sense! Take your pick!!
