Rowan Vine is set to make a return to action having been named in the squad for Tuesday`s game against Swansea.

He joined us in October 2007 on a 1 month loan which was extended to 1 January 2008, when he then signed a four and a half year contract. The fee was reported to be around the £1million mark.

Sadly he suffered a fracture of the fibula and tibia in a freak training ground accident following a challenge by the since departed goalkeeper Matt Pickens. In April 2008.

The recovery process was not an easy one for Rowan and having been expected to resume training earlier this season he suffered the heartbreak of having furthery surgery in November in order to rectify problems that had arisen with the injury.

Despite the setback Physio Paul Hunter reported ‘Rowan is hugely annoyed, but he’s been first class throughout the whole rehabilitation process and he needs to maintain that attitude now.

Good news followed in mid January when the Hoops front man told reporters “I’ve started rehab in the last few weeks, so it is looking positive for me to return to action this season.”

He continued saying, ‘I’m hoping that next two weeks will see me get really up to speed and I am hoping to start playing some reserve games in February.’

Well, the wait is over and I am sure all R`s fans will wish him well as he takes this massive step back into action.
