QUEENS Park Rangers legend Alan McDonald has today (Saturday) suddenly passed away at the age of 48

The defender made approaching 500 appearances for QPR, captaining the club in the top flight as well as returning as Assistant Manager.

The Belfast born defender died suddenly while playing golf this morning in Northern Ireland, a country for which he made over 52 appearanced.

The defender also guided Glentoran to the Irish League Championship in 2009 and was a well-respected professional in his native country.
