Alessandro Pellicori capped off his return from injury with a goal as Rangers reserves overcame Crawley.

Both sides named a strong team with Crawley fielding former QPR front-man Callum Willock along with Michael Malcolm, Jefferson Louis and Lewis Killeen, all goalscorers in their 5-2 reserves thumping of Eastbourne.

Rangers had Hogan Ephraim, Matteo Alberti, Patrick Agyemang, Antonio German and Pellicori in the starting line-up for the clash at the Recreation Ground.

Rangers fell behind when Michael Malcolm slotted home from the spot after Josh Parker fouled Charlie Ademeno.

Agyemang and Pellicori combined excellently for the former to turn his marker and fire home the leveller.

The visitors were back in front just moments later when Ed Harris felled Jefferson Louis and Malcolm slotted home his second of the afternoon.

Undeterred the R`s drew level with a quick free-kick from Ainsworth finding Pellicori, and after some neat interplay with German rolled past the Crawley stopper.

Rangers were keen not to let themselves fall behind again at the break and their second half dominance told as Agyemang cut back for German to put the R`s into an unassailable lead.

There was still time for a cameo for Raheem Sterling, with the 14-year-old replacing Alberti for the final three minutes of the fixture.

Team: ShaneMcWeeny, Romone Rose, Ed Harris, Max Ehmer, Josh Parker, Gareth Ainsworth (Frankie Sutherland 88), Hogan Ephraim, Matteo Alberti (Raheem Sterling 87), Antonio German, Patrick Agyemang, Alessandro Pellicori (Danny Bailey 68).
