Heidar Helguson is due to return to former club Watford according to reports today.

Sky Sports are reporting that the Hornets have fended off high-flyers Middlesbrough for the signature of the Icelandic international.

Helguson hasn`t had a prolific period at Loftus Road and after only six goals since joining Rangers in November, manager Magilton is prepared to let the 30-year-old go.

Watford originally brought Helguson to England from Lillestrøm in 1999 and he subsequently hit the back of the net 55 times in 174 appearances making him a firm fans favourite at Vicarage Road.

His time in W12 has been blighted by injury and poor finishing, epitomised by his very first touch – missing an open goal away at Crystal Palace after finally securing his signature after painstaking negotiations.

There is no hint of loan, rather Magilton is attempting to cut the size of his squad on Deadline Day with a view to finding replacements in the remaining hours.
