Report: Journalist offers assessment of on-loan QPR man’s future

|

On-loan QPR striker Jordan Hugill could return to the Championship on-loan again next season, if parent club West Ham avoid relegation from the Premier League, journalist Alan Nixon has suggested.

Hugill joined QPR on a temporary basis back in the summer transfer window, and has impressed for the club this season, currently sitting top of their goalscoring charts with 15 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions.

It seems inevitable therefore, that questions will be asked about the future of the 28-year-old as that loan deal nears its conclusion, although Nixon appears to believe that that could all still depend on how things play out at West Ham over the next couple of weeks.

Would you like to see Jordan Hugill back at QPR next season?

Yes

No

Discussing Hugill’s situation on Twitter, Nixon suggested that Hugill’s contract means a loan back to the Championship could be likely if the Hammers remain in the Premier League, with his observation of Hugill’s record at second-tier level hinting that West Ham may elect to use Hugill themselves next season, should they drop out of the top-flight.

This does seem to be a scenario that would make sense.

Given he has made just three substitute appearances for West Ham since joining them from Preston in 2018, it doesn’t really seem as though Hugill is being backed to make much of an impact in the Premier League.

However, there can be no arguing with his record for QPR this season, which does mean you feel he could be a useful asset for Rangers or another Championship side next season.

Considering they are three points clear of the Premier League relegation zone with three games of the season remaining, that is an equation that West Ham themselves could certainly still come into.
