Former trialist Andy Marshall could be on the verge of a move back to Loftus Road according to reports today.

More than a few eyebrows were raised when Martin O’Neill snapped up the keeper for Aston Villa following a positive trial spell in W12.

That prompted Rangers to move for Manchester United youngster Tom Heaton on loan to plug the gap left behind Radek Cerny, but now Marshall could be on his way back.

A one-month emergency loan deal for the Villa stopper will keep Heaton’s seat warm while, according to the London Informer, Rangers prepare to pay £300,000 in January for the recent loanee.

A former Norwich, Ipswich and Millwall goalkeeper, Marshall will bolster a much-needed position between the sticks with Elvijs Putnins the only other recognised goalkeeper.
