Reports today indicate that Damion Stewart is close to signing a deal with Bristol City

According to the Bristol Evening Post Steve Coppell hopes to tie up a deal for the Jamaican international today (Friday).

The defender who has played over 150 games for Rangers didn’t travel with the squad to Italy owing to complications with his visa.

All the right noises were being made with regards to his future at the club however with Resreve Team boss Ronnie Jepson describing the defender as ‘first class.’

Stewart has been on the come-back trail from a sickening blow to the head against Crystal Palace in the latter stages of last season, but has shown well in pre-season according to Jepson.

If the reports were true it would bring down the curtain on a by and large positive spell for Stewart, who was a first-team regular for Rangers under a succession of managers.
