Zeshan Rehman has been forced to withdraw from the Pakistan squad to play in the South Asian Football Federation Cup due to illness.

The Rangers defender was thought to miss only the first game against the Maldives, and would indeed be fit in time to play reigning champions India on Thursday.

However Rehman`s dreams of captaincy were shattered when Pakistani doctors told him that his initial bout of food poisoning would keep him out longer than expected.

‘I’m absolutely gutted.” He told QPR.co.uk

‘I don’t feel well enough and the doctors don’t think I’ll make a full recovery in time to feature in the latter stages of the tournament.”

He continued:

‘I was looking forward to leading my country out, but these things happen and I’ll just have to rest up and pick myself up.’

Vital QPR would once again like to reiterate its best wishes, and a full recovery to Zesh
