Zesh Rehman has underlined his ambition to be a first team regular at Queens Park Rangers, as Rangers move into a new season.

Speaking to QPR.co.uk Rehman was poised for an exciting season in the blue and white hoops,

‘I’m really looking forward to Monday, we’ve had a nice long break to recharge the batteries and it’s always good to see the lads again and of course, impress the new gaffer.’

Rehman did not have the greatest summer as Vital QPR covered his demise in and eventual release from the Pakistan South Asian Football Federation Cup squad, where he was due to skipper his national side. Unfortunately due to a serious bout of food poisoning.

Zesh was forced to withdraw and Pakistan suffered, going out of the competition in the early stages, with a disappointing 4-1 defeat against Nepal. A result that cost manager Akhtar Moihuddin his job. The competition was eventually won by hosts Maldives, as they defeated holders India 1-0.

Putting that aside Rehman now moves forward to the forthcoming 2008/09 Championship campaign and couldn`t hide his excitement with working alongside new boss Iain Dowie.

‘It’s an exciting time for the Club.’ He told the official website

‘Chris Coleman used to speak very highly of Iain Dowie when I was at Fulham and the lads I’ve spoken to since the appointment have said he’s very well organised and methodical in his approach.”

‘I learnt a lot from Luigi De Canio, but this is another new chapter and I’m looking forward to working under Iain and his staff.’

Rehman made 22 appearances for the R`s last season, and his confidence undoubtedly improved during the reign of Luigi De Canio.
