Gary Borrowdale has joined QPR on loan from Coventry City.

Rangers bagged the full back on a loan deal which runs until New Years Eve 2008, which is interesting considering the R`s apparent recent dealings with invisible Heidar Helguson.

Borrowdale who had been on loan at Colchester United will be looking to get into the squad that faces his former club Crystal Palace this Saturday.

The 23 year old full back will wear number 29 and spoke to QPR.co.uk about the deal:

“I’m really pleased to be here – it’s a great move for me.

“Things have gone a bit stale for me since the change in management at Coventry, but I’ve got every belief in my own ability and I’m confident I’ll be a success here.

“It’s a fresh start for me and I’m looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead.”

Gary started his career at Crystal Palace as he made his debut in Division One against Grimsby Town back in November 2002 at the age of 17.

He made 108 appearances for the Eagles over five years in the first team squad before moving on to pastures new and Coventry City in the summer of 2007, under ex-sky blues and QPR boss Iain Dowie who paid £650,000 for his services. At that particular time the R`s were said to be interested, but were put off by Simon Jordan`s £1.5m price tag.

Since then the 6 ft full back has made 26 appearances for Coventry City in the full back position, before going out on loan at the beginning of the 2008/09 campaign to League One Colchester United. After four good performances the R`s snapped up the full back for whom they had admired for a while on an emergency loan deal.

Vital QPR would like to welcome Gary and wish him the best of luck in his Rangers career
