According to a national broadcaster QPR have turned down a bid from Wolves for midfielder Mikele Leigertwood.

The story emanating from Sky Sports says that Mick McCarthy is a keen admirer of the former Crystal Palace and Sheffield United man.

However Rangers have turned down an offer earlier this week, as Wolves face stiff competition for his signature from Premier League Bolton Wanderers.

26 year old Leigertwood has put in some sporadic performances at the heart of the Rangers midfield, with the versatile midfielder occasionally playing right of a diamond, at right back or in the holding role currently occupied by Gavin Mahon.

Mikele has made 63 appearances since joining the R`s on deadline day in August 2007, he has also bagged five goals from the centre of the park.
