Queens Park Rangers are set to make an improved bid for Crystal Palace midfielder Ben Watson according to Sky Sports.

The 23 year old midfielder is the subject of an improved bid from Rangers after a £1.25m bid was turned down by the Eagles.

According to Sky Sports Rangers are set to steal the march on Birmingham City by making an improved bid for the former England Under 21 midfielder. The size of the bid itself remains a mystery, but it is believed it must exceed £1.75m for the deal to progress.

Watson has played under R`s boss Iain Dowie during his time at Selhurst Park, and may be interested in a reunion in W12.

Ben broke into the Crystal Palace side aged 17 making his debut in a 1-0 home defeat to Watford, whilst his first goal came the following season at the New Den in a South London derby against Millwall.

Since then Watson has made 151 league appearances, scoring 13 goals for the Eagles. He was voted Crystal Palace`s young player of the year in 2007.
