If QPR can see off Championship rivals Burnley, in their 3rd round FA Cup draw on Tuesday week, we will enjoy the pleasure of locking horns with either WBA or Peterborough away in the 4th round. Matches will be played on the weekend of 24th January, the date and time depending on whether our game (let`s be positive here!) is picked up by one of the TV stations or not.

After a lacklustre display by both teams on Saturday 3rd January, QPR and Burnley must fight it out again on Tuesday 13th January. Remember, this game will go to extra time and, if needed, penalties, should scores remain equal after 90 minutes.

For QPR, this 3rd round replay will be, of course, be a stern test of our new-found discipline away from home which has seen us earn draws at Plymouth and Charlton – both of which games were within our capabilities to win, at least in my opinion!

Should we make it into the 4th round, we will be facing opponents who we have faced previously in the league. In 2007/08, our final home game of the season was against champions West Bromwich Albion, a game we lost 2-0. In February 2004, QPR faced Peterborough, securing a 1-1 draw thanks to a Kevin Gallen last-minute equaliser.

In the FA Cup, QPR have beaten the Baggies once, in the 1981/82 season. We won 1-0 thanks to a Clive Allen goal in the all-important semi-final match which ultimately led to our appearance at Wembley for the first time in an FA Cup Final in May 1982. A year later, we lost 3-2 at the Hawthorns in a 3rd round match.

QPR have only faced the Posh in one FA Cup match, which was back in season 1964/65. We drew 3-3 at Loftus Road in the 2nd round tie; but lost to Peterborough in the replay at London Road, 2-1.
