Neil Warnock has revealed that QPR had a bid rejected for the want-away midfielder Ben Watson.

Rangers interest in the 23 year old has been no secret, with former R`s boss Iain Dowie looking to reunite with his former stalwart at Selhurst Park.

The interest in W12 waned somewhat with the departure of Dowie, but there was sufficient interest from R`s boss Paulo Sousa – as Rangers reportedly lodged a bid for £500,000.

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock told thisiscroydontoday that the R`s came in with a bid for the midfielder only a few weeks ago.

He said: “I felt we were being stitched up a little with QPR`s interest. We were made to believe QPR was where he is was likely to end up, but we also had a couple of offers from other Championship clubs, but nowhere near our valuation.

“QPR came to us a few weeks ago with a £500,000 bid which [chairman] Simon [Jordan] flatly rejected – and rightly so.”

Watson now appears to be Premier League bound after Rangers pulled their interest in the midfielder. Middlesbrough have emerged as favourites for his signature, but with Rangers neighbours Fulham entering negotiations, it is believes he would prefer to stay in the capital.
