Queens Park Raid Rangers For Key Warburton Addition

|

On Tuesday, new Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Warburton officially confirmed his backroom team and we’ve made an addition from Scottish giants Rangers.

With it being expected that interim gaffer John Eustace would continue in his role as assistant gaffer to provide some continuity, he has been confirmed and Neil Banfield comes in as first team coach.

Banfield had been working at Rangers as a scout having been brought into Ibrox by manager Steven Gerrard, and prior to that role, he spent more than 20 years at Arsenal working his way through as an Academy coach before being promoted to first team duties by Arsene Wenger back in 2012.

With Wenger’s departure from the Emirates, he moved on.

Warburton made a point of speaking about his youth credentials when talking to the Official Site.

“Neil is an outstanding coach. He has vital experience which is going to benefit everyone at the club, not just at first-team level but with the academy too. Chris Ramsey oversees the academy and he has a wealth of experience as well so to have two individuals with that knowledge and talent will be great for QPR.”

With the backroom boys now set, it’s all eyes to the summer, strengthening and then hopefully enjoying the 2019/20 campaign with a little bit more to shout about in the right sense.
