Arsenal youngster Jay Simpson has joined Queens Park Rangers on a season long loan.

The young forward penned a deal with QPR ahead of several interested parties including Premier League clubs and will bolster a profligate forward line at Loftus Road.

Simpson has had previous spells with Millwall and West Bromwich Albion and is highly thought-of by the hierarchy at the Emirates Stadium.

During his time at the Emirates he has made three appearances for the Gunners all coming in last year`s Carling Cup competition.

He came on for Danish forward Nicklas Bendtner in the 6-0 thrashing of Sheffield United before starting and scoring two goals in the subsequent round against Wigan Athletic.

Among several accolades he was voted PFA Fans’ Player of the Year while at Millwall in 2007 where he scored eight goals for the Lions.

Simpson also bagged two Premier League goals for a struggling West Bromwich Albion side last season while bagging international honours at England under 17 and under 18 levels.

The Arsenal youngster has been given the number 23 shirt at Loftus Road and is expected to play a role in QPR`s game at Scunthorpe United on Saturday.
