QPR players missing training? Or, depending on where you read this, even worse – QPR players banned from training ground!

Well, having just read an article from the online Fulham Chronicle, you would think that all hell is breaking loose at Loftus Road.

Their headline: QPR trio banned from training suggests exactly that. And that is confirmed by the opening sentence: ‘Three senior QPR players have got the hump with Neil Warnock after the manager banned them from their beloved five-a-sides on Fridays.’

But then, you read on, and realise that, in fact, Warnock has given the players concerned (Helguson, Derry and Hill) Tuesday and Wednesday off training this week, along with tomorrow (when they usually play a fun game of 5-a-side) to ensure that they are fit for Saturday’s home clash against Doncaster Rovers!

Warnock explained his action had been taken because of the recent injuries in the squad – he didn’t want this trio in particular to run the risk of being injured themselves!

And we know that Hill has been having injections for pain in his ankle – so you can see Warnock’s point!

‘They want to play in them, but right now they don`t need it, and I don`t want to take risks,” Warnock explained to the paper.

But they chose to run with a most sensationalist headline. And bearing in mind the heart-attacks given to many VitalQPR members when a certain thread was started claiming that Jamie Mackie was injured, you can understand why my heart did more than a little somersault when I saw this headline!

Interestingly, the sister paper, the Ealing Gazette ran the exact same article – word for word – but with a slightly different, but no less alarming headline: Rangers trio miss training

Clearly, all the good stuff we’ve been experiencing from the media recently, has become dull and boring. They want something far more ‘typical’ QPR-ish – something sensationalist and gossip-worthy.

Honestly! We’ll still read the articles – so why can’t they just report things honestly?
