QPR Ladies have succeeded where their male counterparts could not! In winning promotion to the FA Women’s Premier League – and as league champions, no less.

Yesterday, the QPR Ladies beat Plymouth Argyle 4-1, in the South West Combination League, which guaranteed our women the league title.

Only a win would seal the promotion although the team led the league for almost the entire season. Plymouth Argyle were, in fact, the ladies’ closest rivals.

What is more, the ladies scored the greatest number of goals of all teams in the league, whilst conceding the least. Cherelle Albert, who scored in yesterday’s victory, is the league’s leading goal-scorer. Our men could do with learning a lesson or two on how to score from our ladies, I think!

Martino Chevannes’ side celebrated their success in style. Chevannes told QPR.co.uk: ‘They were exceptional, from one to eleven, as well as the substitutes who came on.’ But, whilst Chevannes praised his squad, he did not hesitate to single out midefielder Tammy Scrivens, who played with an injury:

‘The players have been fantastic all season long and to beat Plymouth, our closest rivals, in such emphatic style tells you all you need to know about the squad.

‘But special praise has to go to Tammy Scrivens, who despite carrying a knock, shone from the first minute, leading by example in the middle of midfield.’

QPR Ladies will now face teams like Fulham, Charlton Athletic and West Ham United, in the National Premier South next season. Chevannes is convinced the Ladies will do themselves justice:

‘Having watched a lot of football at this level, I’m confident we can hold our own. The sides that have gone up in the past have all done themselves justice and now it’s up to us to do the same.

‘The togetherness and the spirit within the squad is exceptional and that will stand us in good stead for next season,’ Chevannes added.

VitalQPR would like to add their whole-hearted congratulations to QPR Ladies and hope that they go from strength to strength. And now let us hope that the men follow the example of the ladies – and win promotion to the Premier League themselves next season!!
