QPR keen on youngster from fellow Championship club this window – report

|

QPR are currently eyeing up an audacious move which would see them nick Conor Gallagher from their Championship rivals, Charlton Athletic.

Reports from Football.London suggests that the Rs are well in line to get the midfielder on a six-month loan deal, with it looking increasingly likely that Chelsea will recall the player.

Several clubs join the Hoops in their interest for their midfielder, with top sides such as Norwich, Burnley, Glasgow Rangers, West Brom, Millwall and Swansea all reportedly wanting to have the 19-year-old for the second half of the campaign.

Obviously central midfielder Gallagher has been in some form this season, so it is not surprising to see the teams interested in him, though it is a bit surprising to see the Blues want to end it so soon.

Does the state of our defence worry you?

Yes

No

From 26 games in the Championship this season, he has scored six goals and made two assists (per WhoScored) – proving just how important he is to this team. In fact, only Josh Cullen has averaged a better average rating (WhoScored) all season for the club, with him having 7.03 and Gallagher 6.93 – a stat which looks better when you see that only Dillion Phillps and Tom Lockyer have played more minutes this season.

Bearing this in mind, it does ponder the question of why Chelsea would want to see their player go elsewhere at this stage. It’s easy to forget that players have a life beyond the pitch; a life that goes a long way to how someone performs on it. It takes time to adjust to new surroundings, gel with new players and staff and to fit a new tactic and system.

If Football.London’s exclusive about the club recalling the player, it would be odd to allow him to move to a different Championship club as he will be playing the same opposition every week, but risk not fitting in as well, so it might suggest that he could go to Scotland or perhaps the Premier League – even if they suggest that Norwich and Burnley would want a loan with a potential permanent deal involved

If he does move to QPR on loan then it would be a great bit of business by Warburton. The coach has a good reputation for developing youngsters, so that could be a draw to the club.
