Neil Warnock confirmed better news for injured duo DJ Campbell and Kieron Dyer

Neil Warnock lost Keiron Dyer just minutes into the season’s opener against Bolton Wanderers, labelling Dyer the most unlucky man in football.

Further complications with a different injury on the top of his foot had threatened to keep Dyer out until the new year, but Warnock is confident that he’s ahead of schedule.

‘Kieron Dyer is out of the protective shoe that he’s been wearing,’ Warnock told QPR.co.uk.

‘He’s four or five weeks in front of where we thought he’d be and hopefully, touch wood, he can continue to get better.’

Striker DJ Campbell picked up an untimely injury in training with a metatarsel injury threatening to cut his season in half.

Warnock confirmed that with the operation being a success, he could be back quicker than initially expected.

‘DJ’s operation went very well. We don’t think that he’s going to be out for as long as we expected now.

‘The surgeon said that it wasn’t a complete break and the pin he’s had put in is very good.’

Luke Young has since stepped in at full-back to replace a versatile player in Dyer, and Heidar Helguson stepped up to replace Jay Bothroyd who was left out after failing to score thus far.
