Southampton will travel to Loftus Road in a final pre-season friendly before the kick off to the 2009-10 Championship campaign.

The newly relegated Saints will travel to Loftus Road on Saturday August 1, a week before the R`s face Blackpool in the Championship curtain raiser.

Supporters will be awarded a staggering ten loyalty points providing they book their tickets in advance – it remains to be seen whether Newcastle United on a Wednesday night will receive the same billing.

The game is being billed as a dry run for the season opener against the Tangerines with a new ticketing system in operation for the opening day while supporters can take advantage of the ‘amazing discounted prices`:

Adults: £15
Concessions: £10
Under 16`s: £5

There will be a £5 reduction for season ticket holders and members once again if the tickets are purchased in advance.

Former Saint John Gorman gave his reaction to the friendly to QPR.co.uk: ‘It’s a great final fixture for us – against a Club that means so much to both myself and Jim.

‘Southampton are a Club very close to my heart and it hurts me to see where they are now, especially with their current financial problems.

‘I’m really happy with the fixtures we’ve got on English soil and I can’t wait to see the R’s fans come out in force for our final pre-season fixture.’

R’s fans will be hoping for more goals like the Championship fixture last season where the hosts ran out clear 4-1 victors over the forlorn Saints. Dexter Blackstock bagging a brace against his former club.
