QPR Dispatch Peterborough In The Cup – Now The Challenge Is To Turn It Into A League Win

The first round of this season’s EFL Cup kicked off earlier tonight and Queens Park Rangers were amongst the first to take to the pitch at 7.45pm as we faced Peterborough United.

Hosting the Posh at Loftus Road for the game, manager Steve McClaren selected a strong group for the clash as we look for the win, progression through to the next round of the competition, and some form with performance improvement in 2018/19.

No doubt the cash boost from a mini Cup run would also come in handy!

And it will following a 2-0 victory following goals from Luke Freeman and Pawel Wszolek inside of the opening six minutes of the first half. A bright start, dare I say great, saw us take the win and progression through to the second round draw and the only disappointment, if you’re being picky, is we didn’t increase our margin of victory given how we more dominated the ball.

Conor Washington takes the praise as well as he laid on a brace of assists for the win as Steve McClaren picked up his first win as gaffer following his arrival over the summer.

We’re off the mark, now to translate that to the Championship campaign.
