QPR Chase Former Crystal Palace International Starlet & It Has To Be A No Brainer

|

With Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Warburton continuing with his plans to reshape the first team squad ahead of the return of pre-season training as we look to show significant improvement in the coming Championship campaign of 2019/20, the transfer rumour mill links us with having an interest in Jonny Williams.

The 25-year-old Welsh international midfielder came through Crystal Palace’s Academy ranks and he was extremely highly rated at one point until a series of injuries seriously affected his development and his game time.

He’s had numerous loan spells away from Selhurst Park to try and get himself back on an upward curve again but last January Palace appeared to cut their losses and he signed for newly promoted Championship side Charlton Athletic for an undisclosed fee.

I’m not 100% sure on whether Charlton have offered him a new contract but it’s said they don’t believe they can afford him given the offers he’ll now get from elsewhere, but he made 14 starts and four substitute showings in the second half of the year, which is his most consistent run of game time since 2012/13.

With him appearing to be over his injury troubles and playing his part in their Play-Off promotion run, this could be a win for QPR both on and off the pitch given he’s available on a free. The Daily Mail do have him linked with Swansea City and Preston North End though.

He’s also worked his way back into the Welsh setup as they prepare for Euro 2020 qualifiers against Croatia and Hungry.

This is a no brainer for me.
