Queens Park Rangers have confirmed that the Boxing Day fixture against West Bromwich Albion will go ahead.

The well-publicised strike from London Underground drivers had threatnened to put Boxing Day fixtures at risk, which presumably was the desired effect.

General Secretary of ASLEF Mick Whelan said: ‘This result shows the strength of feeling among our tube driver members.

‘We are seeking quite reasonable assurances: that working on this day will be voluntary and that those who do attend will be adequately compensated. It is beyond belief that management cannot make an offer that achieves these points.’

QPR.co.uk confirmed that the strikes will not affect the fixture against West Bromwich Albion on Boxing Day at Loftus Road, and buses are still available for those in attendance.
