Queens Park Rangers have confirmed that the Boxing Day fixture against West Bromwich Albion will go ahead.

The well-publicised strike from London Underground drivers had threatnened to put Boxing Day fixtures at risk, which presumably was the desired effect.

General Secretary of ASLEF Mick Whelan said: ‘This result shows the strength of feeling among our tube driver members.

‘We are seeking quite reasonable assurances: that working on this day will be voluntary and that those who do attend will be adequately compensated. It is beyond belief that management cannot make an offer that achieves these points.’

QPR.co.uk confirmed that the strikes will not affect the fixture against West Bromwich Albion on Boxing Day at Loftus Road, and buses are still available for those in attendance.

  • The anagram of ASLEF is FALSE.

Yet another pathetic union leadership leading their sheep to the slaughter!

Tube drivers are paid stupidly well, yet go on strike at the drop of the hat while everyone else has to live in the real World.

They really are the turkeys who have voted for Christmas.

  • I have to say I agree. Times are tough around the country. Striking for bonuses is not quite in the spirit of things. Jolly poor show.

  • As one who always relies on the tube to get to LR it is a real pain, agree with QPR4me tube drivers are paid very well !! roll on driverless trains please !!
