Preston v QPR – Men In Charge – Championship

|

The Match Day officials for Saturday’s 2018/19 Championship opening day away trip to Preston North End have been announced by the EFL.

Queens Park Rangers travel to Preston on the afternoon of August 4 for the game at Deepdale and the match carries a 3pm kickoff.

Saturday’s match sees referee Darren England take charge of affairs, and he will be ably or otherwise assisted by Nick Greenhalgh and James Mainwaring on the lines. Scott Duncan wears the fourth official cap for the 90 minutes.

England was a regular face in the Championship in the season of 2017/18 as he took in a total of 39 matches across the season. Those games saw him show 149 yellow cards, with an additional two of the red variety.

Queens Park Rangers did only see him take charge of two games last campaign. He was the man in the middle for the mid-November clash against Aston Villa at Loftus Road. We lost 2-1 and he showed five yellow cards in the match. His only other appearance of the year was the May defeat to Leeds United at Elland Road. We went down 2-0 on the day and went to his book six times for yellow cards.

Let’s hope our points record under him balances itself up this season.
