Following the announcement by the Club yesterday regarding the reversal of the controversial rise in ticket prices, today newspapers and websites are reporting that there could be a power struggle about to be unleashed in the QPR board room.

The Guardian newspaper, and its sister website, seems to have led the way with the report that Briatore is very unhappy, bordering on extremely angry (!), about yesterday`s announcement and Amit Bhatia`s “open letter” to the fans published on the QPR official website.

According to the Guardian, Briatore will seek urgent talks to clear the air and the collateral damage could include the sporting director, Gianni Paladini, who is Briatore’s prime contact at the club.

The report further suggests that there may even be a take-over by the Mittal family, represented by Bhatia, of both Briatore`s and Ecclestone`s stakes in QPR. Such a take-over would give Mittal full control of the Club – he currently only has a 20% stake.

Collateral damage could be the removal of sporting director Paladini and, according to the paper, even Dowie`s position will come under discussion at the emergency meeting Briatore will call.

I am intrigued that such a decision as overturning the price rises of a few weeks should be announced without the knowledge, and even blessing, of the most senior member(s) of the Board, particularly Flavio Briatore. He is clearly a hands-on Chairman and I do not think that such an announcement would have been posted on the QPR website if he was not in full awareness. And that goes for Amit Bhatia`s “open letter” too.

But awareness does not necessarily mean agreement and, should there really be a power struggle going on, all Rs fans will, no doubt, be watching for the outcome with baited breath!
