Former QPR loanee Daniel Parejo has told of his happiness after making his Real Madrid debut yesterday.

The former QPR man signed under Iain Dowie`s reign as manager promised much as he swept into W12 having scored a goal in the pre-season Emirates Tournament.

After having his loan spell cut short under Paulo Sousa, Parejo returned to the Bernabéu at the request of manager Juande Ramos.

Daniel spoke to AS about how his side plan to chase down Barcelona and his chances of featuring.

He said: ‘I am very happy to have made my debut and I will work hard to earn more playing time,

‘We also must be happy because we won comfortably at a [ground] that can be very difficult [to succeed at].

‘We are aware that Barca are ten points ahead and we hope that they begin to feel the pressure,

‘There is still a long way to go and we must believe that we have a chance because Barcelona slipped-up after the international games.

‘Juande has said to us that we have to stay on this path and that we are still growing.’

Real Madrid went on to win the game 4-0 at El Molinón with Raul breaking the clubs all-time goalscoring record with his 308th and 309th goal – beating Alfredo di Stéfano`s long standing record at the top of the tree.
