Opinion: How QPR bounce back from Brentford loss will be huge for how they go forward this term

|

It looks like we’re back into this familiar territory again.

I wonder how many more of these we’re going to have to go through before the end of the season. I wrote earlier in the campaign about how QPR boss Mark Warburton, and to a lesser extent the rest of the team as well is going to go through some ‘tests’ in certain stages of the season.

And after the defeat to Brentford, in particular given the comments that Warburton made after the game about doing things as a team, they get the perfect opportunity once again to show us what they are made of as they take on one of the big teams in the division, and a team that up until recently was running away in second place, Leeds United.

After the manager’s harsh words after the loss at Griffin Park, it’s once again time for Warburton to put his money where his mouth is and show us that he can deal with these sorts of setbacks.

I’m not expecting the team to win the game, even though Marcelo Bielsa’s men are on a bad run of form, there’s a reason that they are so high in the table, part of which is off the back of the second best defence in the division, only conceding 23 goals in 27 games.

However, if we can show that we can at least put up a good fight and come back from adversity in that manner, then I’ll at least see it as a step in the right direction.

But there needs to be a vast improvement in terms of performance from the team this weekend. The fact that Leeds struggle to convert their chances, coming in last in the Championship at just 13% shows that they are there to be got at, especially if we hit them early and force them to panic, then we might just have a bit of a chance.

Will QPR make the playoffs this season?

Yes

No

So it’s going to need a lot better first-half than the one we had at Griffin Park.
