After a somewhat inconsistent start to his career as a footballer, Scott Sinclair appears to have finally found his feet at Championship side Swansea, and with seven goals in his last five games the 21 year old will have to be kept quiet if Rangers are expecting to take anything away from the Liberty Stadium.
Sinclair initially started out at Bristol Rovers making his first team debut at the age of just 15, having been a part of the youth system since the age of 9. Chelsea signed the winger in July 2005 for a tribunal fixed compensation fee of £200,000, plus extras and a 15 per cent sell-on clause on any transfer profit.
A host of loan spells saw him turn out for the likes of Plymouth, Charlton, Crystal Palace, Birmingham City, Wigan and of course QPR . He managed to impress certain admirers taking a closer look at Sinclair; however, others were still unsure of his credentials as a professional footballer.
In between the short loan spells, Sinclair managed to turn out for the Chelsea first team five times, and managed a number of appearances in the League Cup. Having also represented England at U 17, 18, 19 and 20 level, Swansea eventually snapped up the highly-rated winger in August 2010 on a three-year deal for an initial £500,000, although the figure could break the £1m barrier for the first time in the club’s history depending on add-ons relating to the club’s future success.
The 21-year-old worked under Swans boss Brendan Rodgers at Chelsea, a crucial factor in securing his signature ahead of other interested clubs and their relationship seems to be working wonders on the pitch for Sinclair who has made an impressive start to the season already.
