Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis McGugan has been indentified by Vital QPR as the One to Watch as Rangers travel to The City Ground searching for their first ever win.

Name: Lewis McGugan

Date of Birth: 25/10/88

Former Clubs: N/A

Appearances (Goals): 109 (26)

Lewis McGugan will be looking to continue his very impressive start to the 2010/2011 campaign against QPR on Saturday and with 8 league goals already to his name this season will have to be under close inspection in order for QPR to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Born in Nottingham, McGugan has represented Nottingham Forest throughout his short but exciting career. A product of the Forest Academy, he made his first team debut in 2006 in the Football League Trophy with his league debut following in January of 2007. It only took him three league games to find the net, scoring against Huddersfield. Another spectacular goal followed against Gillingham, winning him Forest`s Goal of the Season award – something McGugan would keep finding himself in contention for in following seasons.

The 22 year old missed the beginning of the 2007/2008 season due to injury, but came back and soon cemented his place in the team. Then manager Colin Calderwood predicted a ‘wonderful future` ahead of McGugan and the midfielder was instrumental in securing Forest`s promotion to the Championship. He signed a three and half year deal securing his future at the club until 2011.

The 2008/2009 season started slowly for McGugan who was hampered by a continuous quadriceps injury, however he still managed 33 appearances in a season where he managed to score his first Championship goal against QPR; a free kick in a 2-1 loss for Forest at Loftus Road.

An injury wrecked spell for McGugan in the 2009/2010 season limited him to just 8 appearances, mainly coming off the bench as a substitute. A fractured cheekbone early in the campaign hampered his chances of continuing his impressive form, however he proved he had the ability to make vital contributions even coming off the bench.

McGugan has started the current season as brightly as ever, with some spectacular goals to his name – including a cracking free kick against Ipswich at home. His strength on the ball, allied to his skill and vision make him a natural focal point for Forest attacks and the talented midfielder will be hoping for an injury-free run in which he can improve his ever-increasing reputation as one of the best players outside the Premier League.
