Sheffield United’s new signing Leon Britton has been identified by Vital QPR as the One to Watch ahead of Saturday’s Championship meeting at Bramall Lane.

Name: Leon Britton

Date of Birth: 16/9/82

Former Clubs: West Ham United, Swansea City

Appearances (Goals): 296 (10)

QPR travel to Sheffield on Saturday and will have to be on the lookout for United`s recent acquisition Leon Britton as he looks to impress his new manager and fans. Kevin Blackwell pulled off a coup in the summer of 2010 to land the diminutive but skilful midfielder, despite interest in him from the Premier League.

Britton began he career as an Arsenal trainee, but attracted the highest transfer fee ever paid for a 16 year old at that time when he signed for West Ham for £400 000. Unable to break into the first team, he joined Swansea City on loan in 2002, helping the club to avoid relegation from the football league. He later signed for the Welsh club permanently after being released from the Hammers.

Leon stayed in South Wales for almost eight years, racking up more than 300 appearances in all competitions. He won Player of the Year Awards in both 2002-03 and 2005-06 seasons and soon became a fans favourite. The Swans didn`t want him to leave and offered him a new deal at the end of last season, but he signed for Sheffield United to accept a new challenge.

The Rangers midfield will want to put Tuesday`s disappointing Carling Cup performance behind them, and will have to make sure Britton doesn`t get any easy chances to add to the Rs midweek woes.
